Dr Victoria Baxter, Neuropsychologist

Neuropsychologist Dr Victoria Baxter provides life-changing psychological support for individuals with complex neuro disabilities.

Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist Dr Victoria Baxter joined the Inspire Neurocare team in January 2021.Dr Baxter is passionate about ensuring patients access effective neurorehabilitation following a brain injury or neurological condition. She tells us:

"A neurological event can have a catastrophic impact on someone's life. People may have had little or no psychological support in the early stages of recovery. Cognitive, emotional and behavioural changes can significantly impact recovery and therefore thoroughly assessing, treating and/or managing these difficulties is key to enable a person to achieve good outcomes. Taking the first step along a rehabilitation journey can be challenging. Neuropsychological interventions help empower patients to move forwards, to regain mastery over their lives, aligning their rehabilitation goals with their life values."

Dr Baxter uses a range of techniques to support patients in different ways. She goes on to explain:

"My role entails using a range of psychological, cognitive and neurobehavioural techniques within an empowerment based approach to engage and enable brain injury survivors to take control of their lives. The approach is particularly helpful for patients whose mental capacity may fluctuate, whereby the patient is involved in defining how they should be supported during challenging situations."
