Meet Service Manager, Marc Russell

From building site to the first resident, it's been quite a first year.

Inspire Neurocare Worcester’s Registered Manager, Marc Russell, joined the team in summer 2019 to open and manage the new specialist service.

Marc, a registered nurse, has over 20 years’ experience in neurological services - in both managerial and operational roles across the West Midlands and further afield. In previous jobs with Bupa, Priory and Voyage Care, Marc has developed and commissioned new services for people with a range of complex disabilities. In addition, Marc worked to provide support to active service personnel, ensuring they were able to return back into the community post-injury. Marc, who lives in Birmingham, is a keen Smith's fan who enjoys travelling, scuba diving and watching live music.

Overseeing the building works, recruiting a dedicated team and developing the care and rehabilitation approach kept Marc busy over the first six months and he has spent the first half of 2020 welcoming the first residents while supporting the service through the impact of Covid-19.

Building an effective team

One of the key parts of Marc’s passion for the sector has always been on developing high quality, effective staff teams.
“For me, getting the team right is so important. At Inspire Neurocare, we have an enormous responsibility to our residents and their loved ones, to the regulators and to the health and social care community we are part of. I’ve worked hard to recruit a local, skilled and happy team with outstanding attitudes and values that will match the ethos of the service and the organisation as a whole - and we’re all looking forward to welcoming our new residents this year.”

Along with Clinical Director, Michelle Kudhail, Marc leads the team to provide high-quality neurocare and rehabilitation at Inspire Neurocare in Worcester.

“Inspire Neurocare Worcester is designed with knowledge and run with passion. The service is ideal - it’s like nowhere else I’ve worked in my entire career and I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to welcome people to our purpose-built, stylish service where they can receive the care and rehabilitation that’s right for them. We know neurorehabilitation and I am passionate about enabling people to achieve quality outcomes.”

Responding to Covid-19

When the service opened in February 2020, the team had no idea of the impact Covid-19 would have on the world.
Over the last six months, the team has worked hard to keep people safe and respond to the demands of the pandemic, while welcoming new residents and staff. Find out how the team is keeping people safe.
