Celebrating Inspire Worcester's first summer party

Families, residents, staff and stakeholders enjoyed Inspire Neurocare Worcester's first summer party in August.

Since opening in March 2020, Inspire Neurocare has celebrated many happy milestones, birthdays and events, but due to Covid restrictions, inviting friends, families and stakeholders to join in the fun has long been the team's dream. So, enjoying a summer party with loved ones was even more special this month.

Residents, colleagues, families and friends enjoyed spending time together in the garden, with games, activities and great food and drink.

Wellbeing Coordinator Dawn and Assistant Psychologist Aman manned a tropical mocktail bar, serving up alcohol-free Sunrise cocktails to guests.

Home Manager, Lizzie Merrick said:

"It was such a special day. To look around the grounds and see families and friends being able to share the experience and make some lovely memories is something that means so much to us all here. It's the first of many celebrations we hope to enjoy throughout the year, and we're already planning Halloween and Christmas!"

At Inspire Neurocare, the team work with the people they support to plan celebrations, events, and day to day activities - with everything developed around the needs and abilities of the people who call the service home. Supporting people with a range of complex needs, including brain and spinal injuries, neuro-degenerative conditions and strokes, the team ensure people have the freedom to enjoy their hobbies and interests individually, as well as coming together as a community.

Assistant Psychologist, Aman Rai, said,

"It is so heart-warming to see residents and family members able to celebrate together after a year of social distancing and limited contact. Keeping families involved throughout recovery is so important: spending time with loved ones is paramount for good wellbeing and helps support motivation towards the hard work of rehabilitation.”
