At Inspire Neurocare in Worcester, we are constantly moved by the determination and resilience of our residents, and Mark’s story is no exception.
Today, we want to share the remarkable story of Mark, one of our residents living with Huntington's disease. Mark has taken on an incredible challenge to raise awareness and funds for this condition through a 50km sponsored bike ride within our service.
Mark said,
"I was a very keen cyclist and used to cycle six miles to work every day for 20 years. When I include my weekend rides, which took me through places like the Hebrides, the Malvern Hills, and countless country roads, I think I've completed around 50-60,000 miles in total. So when I was asked if I wanted to take part in this challenge, I jumped at the chance. I will be completing my target kilometres on a static Motomed bike. Please help support my efforts for this fantastic cause."
Mark’s challenge is supported of the dedicated team at Inspire Neurocare. Lynne Wright, Therapy Lead, has played a crucial role in helping Mark prepare for this challenge. Lynne said,
"Mark’s determination has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve seen him push through tough days and come out stronger, which speaks volumes about him."
David Austin, Therapy Assistant, has also been working closely with Mark, ensuring he remains motivated throughout his challenge. David said,
"It’s amazing to see how much progress Mark has made. Every day he pushes himself a little further, and it’s a reminder to all of us about the power of perseverance."
Mark’s partner, Sue Kite, has also been a constant source of support throughout this journey.
Mark’s bike ride challenge continues until 31st August, and we encourage everyone to support his cause by making a donation. Your contribution will go towards providing essential care and support for those affected by HD.
