Walking Together for Huntington’s Disease – Inspire Joins the #HDHike Challenge

This May, the Inspire Neurocare team is stepping out with purpose. Staff, residents, families and people living with Huntington’s disease are all taking part in this year’s HDHike to raise awareness and vital funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association.

Throughout the month, everyone is getting involved in their own way. Some of us are walking or cycling, others are supporting from the sidelines. One of our residents, who lives with Huntington’s disease, is cycling on the Motomed as part of their contribution.

On Wednesday 29 May, the whole team will come together in Worcester for a group walk. It is a chance to reflect on the purpose behind the challenge and to walk side by side with those directly affected.

What is the HDHike Challenge?

The HDHike is a national fundraising initiative that encourages people to move more during May while raising money for support, research and services for individuals and families living with Huntington’s disease. At Inspire, this cause is close to our hearts. We support people living with HD every day, and we see the challenges they face, but also their resilience, strength and determination. Taking part in the HDHike gives us a meaningful way to show solidarity, celebrate those living with HD, and contribute to a future with better support and greater awareness.

So far, our fundraising efforts have brought the whole Inspire community together. The service has been full of energy as team members have tracked their steps, cheered each other on, and encouraged friends and family to donate.

Supporting people with Huntington’s disease in Worcester

For families and professionals who may not be familiar with our work, it’s also a good opportunity to explain the kind of support Inspire Neurocare provides for people living with Huntington’s disease. We offer specialist, consultant-led care that is tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Our team of nurses, therapists, neuropsychologists and Life Skills Specialists work together to manage the physical, cognitive and emotional challenges of HD.

People living with Huntington’s disease can experience changes in movement, communication, mood and behaviour. At Inspire, we take a personalised approach that adapts as needs change. We support people to live with as much independence as possible, using assistive technology, meaningful routines and specialist therapies to maintain quality of life. Our goal is always to provide care that enables people to keep doing the things that matter to them, for as long as possible.

Support our efforts

As the HDHike comes to a close at the end of the month, we’ll be celebrating what we’ve achieved as a team. Whether someone has walked one mile or twenty, or simply encouraged others to keep going, every contribution has made a difference. We are proud to support the Huntington’s Disease Association and proud to stand with everyone living with HD.

There is still time to support our efforts. You can visit our fundraising page using the link below. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us reach more people, provide more support and continue vital research.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this May. We are stronger together, and we remain committed to doing all we can to help those affected by Huntington’s disease live well, with dignity, hope and support.

Help us reach our goal - please donate and share our story!
