Ferhill Neurological Centre in Farnborough praised in new CQC report

Fernhill Neurological Centre in Farnborough has received a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection.

The service was rated ‘Good’ across all five inspection areas – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Inspectors praised the team for providing high-quality, person-centred care and treating residents with dignity, respect and compassion.

Fernhill Neurological Centre provides rehabilitation and long-term care for adults with complex neurological conditions, including brain and spinal injuries. The report highlighted a strong culture of empathy and professionalism, with residents and families consistently describing the service as caring and supportive.

One resident said: “Lovely building, good facilities, we have some really good staff – people I’d actually like to work with in my old life.”

A family member added: “It’s extremely professional, and so much better than where [my relative] was before. They are safe here…the security and peace of mind is very good to have.”

Another relative shared: “The staff are very kind, patient and caring. I’m welcomed here at any time of the day or night. I know them all really well, it has a lovely atmosphere that is friendly and kind.”

Inspectors noted that residents’ care plans were personalised and focused on promoting independence, rehabilitation goals and quality of life. Staff were recognised as skilled, well-trained and passionate about delivering excellent care, creating a warm and supportive environment for residents and their families.

Located on Fernhill Road in Farnborough, the purpose-built centre features therapy and consulting rooms, a therapy gym with specialist rehabilitation equipment, spacious lounges and dining areas, a cinema and café bar. With 58 en-suite bedrooms and two self-contained independent living apartments, Fernhill provides rehabilitation, long-term care, respite and palliative support for people living with neurological conditions including brain and spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
